You can file your own taxes!

Okay, you took the quiz & are a perfect candidate to DIY your taxes. Read below for some tips:
- Gather all of your tax documents! Think of it as a little financial scavenger hunt — you can count up all of your earnings as you go! (And deductions, hehe). Based on your quiz responses, you'll likely just need your W-2 but if you have more tax forms like 1099's or mortgage interest statements, you'll want those too.
- Choose your deduction plan: itemized or standard. Based on your quiz responses, you should be okay choosing a standard deduction BUT the standard deduction for the 2022 tax year for single filers is $12,950 and $25,900 for married folks filing jointly. If you have more deductions than this, I highly recommend you hire someone to help you itemize and file for you! This could lead to major tax savings!
- Pick your filing status. Single, married filing jointly, married filing separately, head of household or qualifying widow?
- File your taxes! There's plenty of tax software out there to help you file on your own with little to no cost. Here's a good tax filing software list (notice that TurboTax is not highly rated... more on that later). Or if you want to do the damn thang and do it all yourself, use the IRS' tax filing portal.
- You did it! You filed your own taxes. I'm so proud of you. Now go make a martini and plan how you're gonna use that deduction.
